Cathy N. Davidson (Duke University) and David Theo Goldberg (UCHRI) will conduct a bicoastal conversation on "The Future of Thinking: Learning Institutions in a Digital Age," focusing on the ways higher education needs to be reformed to take advantage of new ways of learning and thinking from and about contemporary students. The conversation will also focus on how to best prepare these students for a changing and complex and, perhaps most important, global world. How do the structures of the contemporary university need to be changed for the digital future? What is the role of interdisciplinarity in the future of thinking? And how do assessments and evaluations need to change to address the features of a changing digital landscape. Finally, the conversation will also address issues of equity, privilege, and ways that the digital both works across social disparities and exacerbates them. The conversation will include a hosted chat feature so questions from the viewing audience can be answered by the two speakers.
